There’s nothing like a hot red carpet event to give you a few ideas for your own crossdressing makeover – and thankfully, we’ve just enjoyed this year’s Met Gala, the annual fundraising shindig for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York.
Naturally, celebs were out in force and dolled up to the nines… so we thought we’d take a quick look at the red carpet to see what standout fashion and beauty trends there were.
So – if you’re on the hunt for a new wig and can’t decide what shape or style to go for, may we suggest a bold bob? The likes of Bella Hadid, Naomi Campbell, Serena Williams, Kerry Washington and Lily Collins were all seen sporting this hairstyle so you’ll be in excellent company indeed.
Wigs aside, you should also think about shopping around for some decorative hair jewellery, another key trend spotted on the red carpet. We were really taken with Cara Delevingne’s version of the style – since she shaved all her hair off, there was nothing to attach jewellery to… so she went all avant-garde and sprayed her entire head silver instead, decorating her scalp with sparkling diamantes and rhinestones. Amazing!
As for makeup, if you want to look on trend this season you’ve got to go for a graphic eye. Check out Grace Hartzel’s red carpet look – certainly not for the faint of heart but if it’s drama you’re after, you’re sure to get a few ideas. Or for something a little different, have a look at Rihanna whose pink and red eye makeup looked absolutely stunning and shows that you can go for a heavily made-up eye and still rock a bright red lip. Is less more? We’re not sure we agree!
