There is nothing quite like afternoon tea, it is an occasion we should all experience at least once in our lifetime. In Brighton we are truly blessed with many wonderful establishments in which to embrace this fine British tradition. There is none better in my opinion than the famous “Grand Hotel” in which to sample the spenders of what makes us British well, British. The surroundings and the warm and friendly staff make the whole occasion a truly worth while event. Earlier this month (December) I had the pleasure of accompanying Lady Charlotte on a mid week excursion to the Grand Hotel to partake in a wonderful afternoon tea experience.
One of the first things that strikes you as you enter the hotel apart from the very polite doorman is the shear magnitude of the hotel lobby with the bar / tea area to your left and the restaurant to your right. No hotel would be complete without an impressive staircase and the Grand is no exception. Of course this is a wonderful backdrop for some photographs. It would be easy to imagine walking down the stairs in your finest evening gown with everyone stopping to admire the vision of loveliness descending from the heavens.
On arrival Lady Charlotte and I were escorted to our table which was located in the glass atrium to the front of the hotel where we could watch the world pass by in slender. We were served by a lovely Italian young lady who was only to pleased to take some picturers and add an air of fun to the proceedings. There proportions of sandwiches and cakes was just right. As you would expect very well presented and tasty to boot. The Grand do two afternoon tea sittings per day, the week days are a little cheaper than the Friday and weekend sittings which is worth taking into consideration. After completing our fine Afternoon Tea Lady Charlotte and I did take the opportunity to grab a couple of photographs on the stairs, well after all it would have been a crime not to.
I have had the pleasure of visiting this fine establishment many times not only with clients of our Dressing Service but for evening events and the occasional social glass of wine. On the subject of wine as you would expect this Hotel has a fine selection and the barman always knows which is just the right red or white for you (and they sure do). I would highly recommend this hotel for Afternoon Tea and any social events as the staff are extremely professional. My only piece of advise would be to dress for the occasion in something respectful and I’m sure you will have a great time. One of the most common comments I hear from our clients about the Grand is that how relaxed the atmosphere is and how comfortable they make us “girls” feel. In fact when you do visit take a moment out to look around at everyone if you do catch someones eye then I’m sure they will just smile, after all I’m sure your going to be one of the most glamours people there so expect some nice comments and general interest, these are the little things that make the day that little bit special.
I would love to try A dressing service
