Jon Renau Gisele Smartlace Wig Review. Wigs in general have come along in leaps and bounds over the last five years with changes in both fibre and cap constructions the great news is that this has helped to drive the prices down which is music to the ears of anyone looking to purchase a wig. Once upon a time lace front wigs were for the film stars and the rich and famous not anymore. The “Smartlace” technology introduced by Jon Renau is a temple to temple narrow lacefront that hugs the forehead and best of all you don’t have to cut it to shape as it just fits right out of the box. On close inspection for a standard production product the quality is exceptionally high and I was very impressed. As you would expect the lace front is delicate so it need to be handled with care especially when you first put it on. If you need to you can powder the lacefront in a little if you are concerned about any colour difference I did not have to do this and to be honest I don’t think you will need to either. The lacefront is cut very close to the hairline and does not need any form of glue which is a blessing.
The crown has a nice lace monofilament lightweight arrangement so you can fiddle around with the hair style should you wish to. I loved the out of the box look so I literally plonked it straight on my head. As you would expect the temple area has built in “metal bits”, these can be bent into the temple to give a nice snug fit. You can adjust the Velcro tabs at the back of the cap should you wish to tighten or loosen the fit. The open wefted portion of the cap ensures that the heat does escape easily and adds to the general comfort.
The colour I chose was from the relatively new Chocolate collection of colours namely “Toffee Truffle” which for the technical folk amongst you is FS6/30/27 – breaking that down it consists of Brown, medium red-gold blonde blend with medium gold blonde bold highlights which I feel is a great everyday colour full of life and depth and is good for my Celtic reddish completion. The length with the loose curls really framed my face well and the most important thing was it gave me the confidence to wear it out in what ended up a windy day in Brighton. The high crown ensures the hair is kept of the face and the length is just perfect as it hits the shoulders but does not wip around your face in high winds (to much).
