Selecting the right silicone breast form style. Potentially one of the largest investments you will ever make when cross dressing is for a pair of silicone breast forms. As you look around the internet you will find many manufacturers and styles available, however, making the correct selection can be quite a difficult task. Silicone breast forms mainly fall into two categories:-
A) Silicone implants – These are the ones used in medical operations and are implanted under the skin. These breast forms have to undergo stringent medical testing and certification.
B) Silicone out plants – Originally manufactured for mastectomy patients. Due to demand and interest, quite a few main manufacturers of silicone breast forms have diversified to manufacturing silicone forms specifically for the cross-dressing / transgender market. This article discusses the various merits and designs currently available in the silicone out plants category only.
Oval Silicone Breast Form
This design of silicone breast form is designed to be worn either vertically or horizontally. The rear of the silicone breast form has a small concave back, which will allow it to sit over any muscle or chest development. The thin tail of this silicone breast form ensures it blends in well with the chest wall, giving a more natural and feminine look. When you compared the oval silicone breast form to the triangular silicone breast form designs (figure 2), size for size the oval silicone breast form has slightly less frontal projection. The oval style silicone breast form is available in the “Supersoft” (TF201), “Superperk” (TF302) and the “Natural Look” (TF102) ranges. The silicone used in the “Natural Look” range of silicone breast forms is less viscous and therefore spreads more at the base.
TF102 Natural Look Tapered Oval (as shown) This design of oval silicone breast form is more elongated with a higher wing than the full oval silicone breast form (TF201 and TF 302). The tapered wing of this oval silicone breast form gets gradually thinner to blend smoothly to the chest. The apex and the nipple are slightly lower than those of the TF201 and TF302 oval silicone breast forms. There is more fullness at the bottom of the cup with this design of breast form. The natural look tapered oval silicone breast form has a lighter coloured internal nipple than the TF201 and TF302 silicone breast forms. This is the cheapest style of oval silicone breast form available in the Translife range of Silicone breast forms both the quality and feel are exceptional.
TF201 Supersoft Full Oval
These ultra-soft silicone breast forms are softer and drape more than the Natural Look (TF102) silicone breast forms. They have an internal nipple to replicate the natural breast, they are symmetrical for an easy fit. The Supersoft full oval silicone breast forms can be turned in different directions, in addition, they can be worn in strapless and halter bras. The term “Full” means that the silicone breast forms stay thicker toward the edges of the form with lots of fullness through the wing. Select the Supersoft full oval silicone breast forms if you require fullness up the chest or on the side. Like so many of the breast forms in the Transform range this style is available up to a size 10. In addition, it is produced in a soft sable for a darker skin tone or beige tone. They have a built-in nipple but it is not as realistic or pronounced as the premier range of breast forms.
TF401 Standard Tapered Oval Breast Forms
These symmetrically tapered ovals can be turned in several directions for the best fit to add fill where needed on either side of the body. If worn sideways they give fill on the side of the pectoral muscle and work well with strapless dresses. If worn in a vertical position with halter dresses they add fill at the top of the muscle or breast area. “Tapered” means that the “wing” at the top of the oval gets gradually thinner for a great transition to the natural tissue. (Choose a “full” oval if you want fullness up the chest or on the side. Choose a “tapered” oval if you want a more subtle transition from the form to your natural tissue.). The beauty of this particular style is that it has a much larger range of sizes, in fact, you have a choice of 14 sizes at your disposal. If you are looking for a larger cup size then this may be the range for you.
Triangle Silicone Breast Form
The triangular silicone breast form style has a concave back which sits better over the pectoral muscle of the male chest should it be required. Size for size the triangle silicone breast forms have a more frontal projection, therefore they are more pronounced than the oval silicone breast form. As a general comment if you are looking for a more implant/super modal look then the triangular style would be your best option. As with the oval design our triangle silicone breast forms are also available in the “Natural Look” range the basic comparison between our soft ranges of triangles and ovals and the economy ranges are listed below:
Economy triangle Silicone Breast Forms for Crossdressing
TF101 Triangle Natural Look Breast Form A slightly elongated triangle style with a higher wing than the full triangle styles. The silicone breast forms tapered wings get gradually thinner to blend smoothly to the chest. The breast forms wider shape gives more fullness on the sides. The apex and the nipple are lower on these breast forms. The belly of the silicone breast form is wider for more fullness at the bottom of the cup. The internal nipple on this design of breast form has a lighter colour than our other breast forms.
TF 202 Supersoft Full Triangle These ultra-soft, silicone breast forms are made with a softer silicon formulation and have a thinner, more supple outer skin which allows the silicone breast form to drape more. The supersoft full triangle silicone breast forms have our unique internal nipple to replicate the natural breast. The triangle breast forms are symmetrical, so they fit either side of the body, but they do have a top and a bottom. The supersoft full triangle silicone breast forms are very easy to fit especially when using our pocket bras. Each form’s contoured back curves to the chest wall for a smooth, natural look.
TF301 – Superpirk Triangle These symmetrical superpirk triangular silicone breast forms have built-in nipples with extra protrusion and firmness to offer a more perky look. The nipples on these silicone breast forms stand out exceptionally well in lace, sheer or see-through bras. Superpirk silicone breast forms are made of the same soft silicone gel as the standard triangle breast forms and the standard oval breast forms and are encapsulated in a durable polyurethane film. The style of these breast forms has a slightly curved back to give a great fit against the chest wall. This shape of silicone breast form fits most full figured fashion bras as well as pocketed bras and is easy to fit.
TF200 Classic asymmetrical silicone breast forms
Asymmetrical silicone breast forms / Classic breast forms (figure 3) – This design of breast form combines the wing of the oval silicone breast form with the frontal projection of the triangular silicone breast form and is the only “handed” design i.e there is a left and a right breast form. TF200 – Supersoft Full Classic Asymmetrical These ultra-soft, asymmetrical silicone breast forms are made with a softer silicon formulation and have a thinner, more supple outer skin which allows them to drape more than our standard forms. They have our unique internal nipple to replicate the natural breast. The Classic silicone breast form is asymmetrical, each form fits only the left or the right side of the body for a more personalised fit. The back of these forms are contoured so they hug the chest for a smooth, comfortable fit. Asymmetrical Classic shapes are the most custom fitting forms.
TF403 Semi-Round Silicone Breast Form
Semi round silicone breast form (figure 4)- This design of breast form is interchangeable and fits both the left and right side of the body. The semi-round shape of this silicone breast form has a full profile and a curved back to conform and fit snugly against the chest wall to ensure a good fit. This design closely resembles the full implant look. The grade of silicone used in the production of the breast forms has a dramatic bearing on cost, structure and feel of the breast forms. The higher the grade of silicone then the firmer or more supple the forms are, in addition there is less degradation of the forms over time with a higher grade of silicone. However, there can be advantages of using a lower grade silicon in the manufacture of breast forms and not just cost. One of the features of lower grade silicone is that its viscosity is less and therefore the product tends to “spread” more. In economy style silicone breast forms this can be put to use in the larger size forms to give a more natural look helping to reduce the gap between the breast forms. The majority of manufacturers provide a “size chart” based on male chest size against required “cup size” which is a very useful starting point when selecting your required silicone breast forms. Each of the designs have their relevant merits and it comes down to your personal preferences based on sales at Translife it would appear the two most popular designs are the silicone oval breast forms and the classic silicone breast forms.
