Bra Size Conversion guide for crossdressers How To Measure Correctly
Choosing the correct bra size is one of the most important steps in creating a comfortable and realistic feminine appearance. Whilst many focus on cup size, the band size is equally important and forms the foundation of a well-fitting bra.
Fortunately, measuring yourself is quick and easy and only requires a soft tape measure.
How to measure three simple steps
Step 1 – Measure Your Underbust
Standing naturally, wrap a tape measure firmly around your chest directly beneath where the bra band will sit.
The tape should be snug but not uncomfortably tight.
Record this measurement in inches.
Example
- Underbust measurement = 40 inches
- Suggested band size = 40
Step 2 – Measure Your Bust
Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
If you have breast forms, wear them whilst taking this measurement as this will provide the most accurate result.
Keep the tape level all the way around your body and avoid pulling it too tightly.
Example:
- Bust measurement = 44 inches
- Underbust measurement = 40 inches
Difference = 4 inches
Step 3 – Calculate Your Cup Size
The difference between your bust measurement and underbust measurement determines your cup size.
Difference Approximate Cup Size
1″ A Cup
2″ B Cup
3″ C Cup
4″ D Cup
5″ DD Cup
6″ E Cup
7″ F Cup
Example
Underbust: 40″
Bust: 44″
Difference: 4″
Result: 40D
A Note For Crossdressers
Unlike many sizing guides aimed at women, crossdressers often have:
Broader shoulders
Wider rib cages
Larger chest measurements
Different body proportions
For this reason, band sizes between 38 and 44 inches are extremely common amongst our clients.
Many people find that selecting slightly larger breast forms creates a more balanced and feminine silhouette when combined with their natural frame.
At Translife, we regularly assist clients with choosing breast forms, bras and shapewear that work together to create a natural appearance rather than simply focusing on cup size alone.

Many of our clients find that larger band sizes combined with correctly proportioned breast forms create a more natural appearance than simply choosing the largest cup size possible. Comfort and overall body balance often produce the most realistic result
Helpful Tip
Choosing breast forms is not simply about selecting the largest cup size possible. A realistic feminine appearance is usually achieved through proportion, balance and selecting a size that complements your height, shoulder width and overall body shape.
Many crossdressers naturally have broader shoulders and larger rib cage measurements, so selecting breast forms that suit your frame often creates a more natural and comfortable appearance.

The style of breast form you choose can have a dramatic effect on your overall appearance. Not all shapes fill a bra cup exactly the same way and give the same over-all shape that is why there are so many styles/shapes to select from. At this juncture you may have selected or identified that a D cup will provide the right size but what about the overall shape?
